In last weekend’s message “How Bad Can It Be?” Pastor Dave introduced our Six-Week series called “Noah: One Person Can Make A Difference.” We looked at Genesis 6:1-8 for look at the conditions that made God regret he created mankind. For this message we considered how we should live today. Use this week’s Life Action Points to apply this message to your life.
Day 1
Gen. 6:1-3. Human beings did not live up to the expectation that God placed on His creation. Instead, they became arrogant and so God shortened the life expectancy to 120 and later to 80 years. Humility is a posture that gets God’s attention. What evidence shows humility is the way you live before God and man? Ask God to develop this important character trait in you.
Day 2
Gen. 6:1-2, 4. The Nephelim took wives as they saw fit. These heavenly creatures disobeyed God and forsook the purpose He gave them. They abused the freedom of the Creator and did what they wanted, instead of following His ways. How are you following God with your choices? Your words? Your actions? What areas of your life do you need to bring in alignment to God?
Day 3
Gen. 6:5-6. The wickedness of mankind grieved God, and He regretted that he made man. Things can get so bad, that it provoked God to put together a plan to restart humanity. You have a choice, will you go the way of human society, casting off restraints of accountability to God; or will you walk in the way of Jesus? Those who follow the crowd have usually departed from God and will receive the penalty that goes with it. It takes humility and courage to follow Jesus. Ask God to build up these qualities in you, so you can remain faithful.
Day 4
Gen. 6:7-8. Among all the people on the earth, Noah found favor in God’s eyes. His faithfulness allowed him to change history, and to be the one person was God used to save the human race. When you follow God, you open yourself up to be a candidate for great things, like Noah. Who’s favor are you trying to find? If it’s anyone other than God, your loyalties may need to be changed. Between you and God, examine your loyalties and begin to make choices that reflect your priorities.
Day 5
John 17:14-19. Jesus prayed that the Father would keep His followers from evil; that they would live as ones who are not of this world; and that they would live in the world as children of God. By looking at your life, would one conclude that you are of the world or of Jesus? What choices will you make today to make sure you are of Jesus?
